Originally the doorman apartment of a residential building in the genuine neighbourhood of Chamberí, TheRoof turned out to be a great opportunity to design a new fully refurnished penthouse in Madrid city centre.

The apartment had been abandoned for almost four decades and it needed a full renovation. The original distribution in many small compartments was old-fashioned and impractical for today’s lifestyle, but its privileged location in the rooftop of the building gave this 60 sqm apartment a lot of potential.

TheRoof was designed as an open space with one-bedroom, focusing in creating a clean, versatile and practical space with incredible light and views.

Day areas where taking the main core of the house, while night and service areas where reduce to the basic, following both the same material logic: keeping it simple and bright.

White walls and continuous flooring made out of grey microcement were the basic materials in the whole apartment. Having a minimal, simple and practical space was the main goal: See the result and tell us if we achieved it!
